Elmbrook fact check #1

Let the fact checks begin.

On the elmbrookschools.org site today is this statement:

THE PROPOSAL THAT VOTERS TURNED DOWN IN 2007 WAS FOR $108.8-MILLION. THE CURRENT PLAN IS A REDUCTION OF $46.6-MILLION.

In 2007 there were two proposals. One was for $99.3 million to almost completely rebuild the high schools. The second was to increase athletic facilities at a cost of $9.5 million. There were two distinct questions on the ballot.

This year’s attempt is for $62.2 million in only one question. The expanded athletic facilities are included in this second attempt. You won’t be deciding the issue of athletic facilities seperately.

The math might be right, but it’s not an apples to apples comparison. And that’s what will need close scrutiny. We all know how they compare apples and oranges when your tax dollars are being spent.
