Leaky pipe update

I’ve asked twice in comments that I know the Elmbrook communications office reads. I sent an e-mail to Superintendent Matt Gibson, Communications Director Andy Smith, and Central High School Principal Don LaBonte. I very much want to photograph and videotape the leaky pipe that was used on a television channel this morning when discussing the Elmbrook referendum.

I’m still waiting for a response from anyone.

  1. Cheri M. says:

    I suppose the plumber’s there right now…!

  2. I’ve had a response. As a member of the press surely I understand that not every request can be fulfilled the same day.

So, we’re scheduling a mutually acceptable date.

Smith did indicate the leak is in the water softener room at Central. He chided me for not finding it earlier. I will assume that means the district has allowed it to leak a long time if I was supposed to discover it before the TV taped it yesterday.

  3. Kelly Frank says:

My memory is somewhat foggy, but I remember seeing a leaky area of a maintenance room on the tour last year. I think the explanation was that groundwater was coming in through the walls. There was another room where the sump pump was said to be running constantly to keep the groundwater out of that room as well.

I don’t think that this is something that they were trying to hide if it was part of the high school tour.

  4. I guess if we ever get to see it again we can compare.

  5. BrkfldDad says:

There was that spot last year where the water near (I believe) electrical panels was indicated as a hazard. But again the kicker was the water was running in via holes in the wall that were not plugged when external plumbing, oil lines or something like that were removed years ago.

  6. No, it wasn’t Kyle’s Wall of Shame. Hopefully that’s been improved after a year.

It had rained, so maybe the dripping was ground water instead of an actual leak. Again, it will be good to see for sure.
