Galster ousted? – Update – NO!

May 19, 2008 at 6:33 pm --by Cindy Kilkenny · 4 Comments

Boy, you all work fast. There are several e-mails I’ve received suggesting that Elmbrook PPMS principal Don Galster has actually been forced to resign. Chief among the concern is that he did not indicate a future employment. In addition, he informed parents regarding the phone network instead of the district making the announcement.

It wouldn’t surprise me. Galster has often taken a conservative opinion in defining the middle school issues. Conservative opinions are not favored opinions by Elmbrook Superintendent Matt Gibson.

I’ll try to get information tomorrow. In the meantime, keep those e-mails coming!

Update 5/20 – please read the update here. Galster is indeed moving under his own volition.

People, if you’re going to write e-mails, please consider writing to the board. Perhaps if they hear from enough of us they will decline his resignation.

    Example:

    Dear School Board Members,

I would like to ask that you please respectfully decline to accept the resignation of PPMS principal Mr. Don Galster. In four short years, Mr. Galster has both inspired others and learned a lot. He is a man of integrity and understanding, a listener, a thinker, a doer. He is an excellent role model for students, for parents, and for staff.

Both in righting wrongs, and showing concern for students and families, he stands apart as a leader in a world of followers. We know we speak for many families when we say that Mr. Don Galster is a person we would continue to have in our childrens’ lives, at the helm of Pilgrim Park Middle School.

Please fight to keep him in this position by respectfully declining to accept his resignation.

    Sincerely,

I have never heard a complaint about Mr. Galster. He seems to know all of the students and most of the parents by name. He greets every one of them he passes. He welcomes open communications.

It is a shame if the district cannot keep someone like him but has hired a few clowns along the way who may be here forever.

Thank you for squashing this rumor. He is a great principal.

The excellence that PPMS has had in recent years is because of the leadership. Mr. Galster defined that excellence with his leadership. This is a great loss. Please let the school board know that residents want to retain excellent leadership not administration “yes” men and women.
