Brookfield Mayor has Milwaukee DNS violations, too

A Milwaukee paper popped the news on the front page of an urban slumlord’s multiple properties and violations assigned by the Department of Neighborhood Services. I thought it would be worthwhile to review Brookfield Mayor Jeff Speaker’s parallel to that news.

The landlord profiled owns 20 properties and has had nearly 200 violations in 16 months. While Speaker only owns one complex, he’s had a few of his own.

The Sunday expose said of the “very bad” landlord:

Sessler has found other ways to go after his tenants’ limited resources.

He routinely sues them for amounts ranging from $90 to more than $3,000.

Last month we saw that Speaker does the same with a few suits of his own.

You know, as a Brookfield taxpayers, it’s interesting, but not supposed to be a big deal one way or the other. I mean heck, he can own a little property here and there, right? Not way Speaker does it. Look carefully at this property information page for the building he owns. Mayor Jeff Speaker’s business address is listed as Brookfield City Hall.

Is it wrong for City of Brookfield Mayor Jeff Speaker to be using your building as his business address? Well, I certainly think that could be a problem.

UPDATE: See Speaker’s video from WISN.
