Stuff I’m thinking about

It’s a long weekend. Critter #1 is home for a couple of days. With any luck, I’ll get at least one family meal out of the deal. Of course, that means a dreaded trip to the grocery store is in order.

The estate is still in various stages of disrepair. The hot tub needs a service call and the pool isn’t open yet, but the deck’s newly stained and the house has been painted this week. I do have a couple of scary “painter in your window” kinds of stories, but they’re probably best left without details.

The parade is on for Monday in Elm Grove at 10:30 a.m. I get to be there rain or shine. Frankly, the weather forecast is looking a little iffy, so we’ll just have to wait and see on that one.

Memorial Day is a great tradition, but different for me here in Wisconsin. Growing up it almost always meant a weekend at the lake or Little Sahara. (A little Oklahoma perspective – the first weekend after Easter is always Rattlesnake weekend there. You don’t know fun until you’re camped out with dozens of boxed snakes nearby.) Now it’s usually a parade that one of the kids is in and a little catching up on the never ending list of home repairs.

This weekend I am going to try to get some more of the letters about Uncle Jack transcribed, though. It seems fitting. I’ll pop them up as I get to them.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.

Painter in your window stories? Yikes.
