We have pols playing on the ignorance of the American public or their own ignorance in regards to economics. In reading your comments the following points come to mind. BO’s “change” includes a return to Carter era economic policy such as “windfall profit” taxes. He and his followers are too young or uneducated to have learned from history so going back to something old is now seen as unprecedented “change”. We are continuing to ignore our own energy resources and continuing the ethanol boondoggle (much to the delight of those receiving subsidies). More proof that the government is the problem rather than the solution is the news that the summer job market may be the worse in decades. In part because the government, making a big show of helping the little man, has again raised the minimum wage with the predictable results of increasing the cost to do business which decreases the demand for young and inexperienced job seekers.
