Brookfield liquor licenses in the news again

An article ran today in the local paper about Brookfield not renewing an empty restaurant’s liquor license. The reporter anxiously conveys:

She (City of Brookfield Clerk Kris Schmidt) said she could not recall the city revoking any other businesses’ liquor licenses for lack of activity.

The property owners for the Sidetracks Bar on Brookfield Road and River Road held a license that was eventually not renewed around October 2004. The owners were brought before the Legislative and Licensing committee, keeper of all liquor licenses, and given six months to find a tenant the prior June. Since the tavern was never leased, the owners lost the license after that grace period.

Too bad that reporter didn’t interview more than one person for the story. Maybe you could have read more accurate news on the front page of section B.
