Help Wanted: Elmbrook communications manager

Gone is the full-time director position. Now the district wants 25 hours a week at $25 an hour.

It’s number 3021 in the WECAN system:

The Communications Manager is responsible to research, develop and implement communications programs to inform and educate internal and external stakeholders and markets of the policies, practices, and activities of the district and Board of Education; serves on the Board Communications Committee; serves as a district liaison to community stakeholder groups, and facilitates stakeholder involvement in Elmbrook Schools

· Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or equivalent work experience. Public Relations degree or experience preferred.
· Experience in the development and implementation of communication/marketing programs.
· Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact in a positive, professional manner with the Board of Education, administrators, staff, district parents, community, students, news media, other stakeholders, and those supervised.
· Proficiency in technical skill including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software, as well as the ability to shoot and edit video.
· Experience in training on effective communication techniques and the ability to inservice others.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as District policies and procedures, federal, state, and DPI manuals and regulations, and routine operating and maintenance instructions.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Ability to organize time and resources.
· Ability to work independently and sometimes in a stressful environment.

I have no doubt one of the job’s requirements will be to read Fairly Conservative. Hopefully the responses won’t be with the same vigor of the previous communications guru.
