The first ever why you read poll

I’m trying to figure out if I need to drop one or two subjects or split up the site. I still own BrookfieldCityNews.com and CindyKilkenny.com. Would you like it better if you came to one place to read only one thing?

I’ll leave the poll up for a couple of weeks and we’ll see what happens next.

I like the order of the answers! To do a some of the above, you’ve got to include the ‘I hack you off’ in your answer. You definitely don’t hack me off, but I am here for most of the other three items!

Reminds me of a debate we had with a Organic Chemistry professor in college. He had a multiple choice question, with 5 potential answers.
    a. x
    b. y
    c. z
    d. None of the above
    e. All of the above.

The correct answer was x, y, and z, but you couldn’t pick answer e. because All of the Above includes d. None of the Above! He wouldn’t relent, told us we should have figured out the correct answer was e.

  2. Well I guess that’s one vote for keeping things the same.

And I’m open to redoing the poll if you think I should.

  3. I’ll take doors 1 and 2.

  4. I took door 5. Cindy, the site rocks as it is!

  5. Shawn Matson says:

I think the national stuff is the least popular, least focused, least passionate, and most common on the site.

  6. You want passionate? I know it’s been used before, but I don’t think you could handle it, Shawn, if I chose to be more passionate here about the choice for our next president.

Trust me, I’m passionate. I sense that passion should be restrained or I’ll start sounding like you.

  7. Shawn Matson says:

Hey, I try to give some feedback and what do you do? You make not only one but two digs at me.

I didn’t ask for passion about John McCain. I said that the national stuff is the least interesting and passionate. I am a writer by trade. I get that sense from your writing.

National stuff is the same as what every pundit is saying, there’s not much else to say–nothing unique. Your local stuff is interesting, layered, intriguing, etc.

I hope that next time you ask for feedback and someone tries to genuinely offer an opinion, you won’t laugh at it and return with an ad hominem.

According to your poll results, I think the readers would tend to agree with me. Only one person comes here for WI/National news out of 27 so far. That’s what, 4%?

  8. Shawn – you’re a writer by trade? Really.

The poll is turning out to be interesting. I’m very grateful for the feedback.

  9. I should hope so.
