Hard to read as fast as they switch slides, but it is a pretty slick video.
Didn’t Republicans control congress in 1995, Contract with America, and all that? That was back in my Republican phase, when Newt told Paul Soglin that nothing that happened before counted any longer.

Didn’t they take the House, but not the Senate?
**Update – Republicans won both the House and Senate in the 1994 elections.
Clinton had made the new CRA orders in 1993 – they went into effect in January 1995 according to the wiki.

Mitchell for the 103rd, Dole for the 104th. Which one got the bulk of the year?

I don’t guess I understand your point. In 1993 Bill Clinton made the changes with a Democratically controlled Congress – both House and Senate. His 1993 efforts were slated to be effective starting January 31, 1995. The change in 1994 to Republican controlled H & S shouldn’t be an issue.

Well, perhaps I don’t have a point.
I thought I saw something in there about the CRA being expanded in 95.
I read such conflicting opinions about the impact of that legislation that I don’t know what to think. I can’t believe irresponsible loans to some of the poor made everyone else lose their minds, too, but I won’t discount the possibility that it laid a foundation for foolishness.

Agreed, pretty hard to read that fast, but then again no one wants to sit around for 20 mins and watch a video. 49 times more money from Fannie/Freddie, that’s quite the figure. Im sure the media can explain away every slide in that video.

Well, I also think I saw something about tax credits for new appliances in that senate bill. Oink. That’s close to a kitchen sink.

Dont you already get Energy Star credits on appliances if they meet certain requirements?

No. Manufacturers did, briefly. Homeowners got a break for things like improved windows.
