More proof of the global warming boondoggle

This is unbelievable.

The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.

The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs – run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious “hockey stick” graph – GISS began hastily revising its figures.

They used September’s data twice to create a false warming pattern.

Go read what Kyle Prast has to say. She does an excellent job explaining NASA’s miss.

What a disgusting reality on the world we live in. The data only exist to fit the argument!

  1. Sadly, it happens in science all the time…

  2. Randy in Richmond says:

Global warming is a myth construed to further the liberal agenda. Man cannot affect global temperatures to the extent purported. A single volcano eruption or sun activity would dwarf any effect man produced CO2 could ever have on the planet. Since 2001 the earth-wide temperatures have been dropping. The ice-sheet in Antarctica has grown about 25% in the last few years. Our PC governor has appointed a Commission to study global warming yet the average temperatures are going down. There are definately those in NASA with an agenda but consensus is not science and you cannot change the facts. However, as pointed out above you can distort or even lie about them. If you haven’t noticed, Al Gore will not debate or discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t agree with his views. He will not even take questions.
Notice the new description is climate change and guess what, they’ll be right on this one because yea, the climate is always changing.

  3. Or as an Aussie blogger put it,

“September was the hottest October ever recorded.”

  4. Perhaps they can purchase “Carbon Credits” to atone for the mistake.

Cindy made the comment, “The data only exists to fit the argument.” Right now, I am trying to discern if the same is true about the effects of radon and the need for remediation in homes. The EPA continues to cite one specific study in Iowa as their persuading argument.

    Any thoughts?

  5. Not other than there are companies making good money off scaring you!

If you ended up with a bad test, ventilate your basement better. Run the heating fan constantly at low speed, keep a fan or two going in the basement.

Radon has been around for a long time. I remember an article in Forbes (I think?) where they’re bathing in pools with high concentrations in Russia as an elixir for youth.

While he wouldn’t give you a statement from the city, one guy that might help you through this is Director of Public Works Tom Grisa. Tell him Cindy sent you.

  6. Global Warming…I mean Climate Change…brought to you by Al Gore whose credibility was established by his tremendous work on inventing the World Wide Web, that allows us to blog today, and as the inspiration for the movie “Love Story”. Why debate sun spot activity when you have this kind of credibility?

The advocates of CC really, really do not like to talk about sun spot and solar flare activity for the reasons that Randy has pointed out. Gore and his followers, the E-gores, are all-time control freaks. Besides personal fortunes that can be made under this agenda they can place you under government control perpetually by placing business under regulations whose cost will be passed onto you as consumers and most likely more direct government taxation.

Last time I looked America has tremendous problems to solve and we may be on the way to using all of our resources to solve a non-problem or a problem we have no control over.

  7. I’ve said it before . . . the actual word for climate change is . . .
