Home in Basseterre

I spent two days determining the best Rum Punch recipe served on Nevis. Yes, I picked a favorite, but that will wait for a later food post. I’d also like to write about the economy here. In addition, I can introduce – well sort of introduce – you to some very interesting people.

I confess many of the picture will wait because Cindy – who travels with every electronic trinket known to Best Buy – failed to pack her micro card reader for the point and shoot she’s been using. I’ll switch to the big camera since I have that gadget with me.

There’s one other funny little thing I’d like to make clear. Do you know that some people read this blog who don’t actually enjoy it? There’s been word that someone complained because I have the nerve, on my own blog, to write about anything I want to in any way I choose. Imagine that. I have to say I spend very little time reading something of no interest to me, so I can’t for the life of me figure out why someone would complain about reading anything anyone writes when a teeny little bit of self control would mean he didn’t have to even read at all. That’s just my opinion and everything, and no one really had to read it, but I thought, just in case he’s reading, perhaps he could do himself a favor and pour another drink. Before he knows it he can forget he even read the above.

And since you asked, yes, I’m having a really great time down here. Every trip is important in one way or another, but I think this one has the potential to leave deep imprints on my heart.

You all take care. I’ll be writing a few things up late tonight, so checking back Monday morning will be your best bet.

And for goodness sakes, if you don’t like it, grow up and don’t come back!

  1. I just got back from Nevis and tried many a rum punch… I thought the best was at Coconut Grove. I was suprised! It was fantastic!

Happy to have stumbled upon your blog 🙂

  2. Good catch. Coconut Grove landed in the number 2 slot after tasting the last glass at… (ok, I’ll get to it when I get home. It’s cumbersome to be writing so much!)
