Beware the Senate stimulus rewrite

The hoopla now is that President Barack Obama is heading to the Senate to make a bipartisan attempt at the stimulus package. The House passed the original, but the vote garnered no support from Republicans.

Even Rush Limbaugh is in the mix saying we should, “start solving our problems, together.” He wants $900 billion in stimulus, but he wants it divided his way. Since 46% didn’t vote Obama, he thinks that means 46% of the funding should be in tax cuts.

The House passed what is generally agreed as an $819 billion package.

Do you remember what happened when the Senate got a hold of what’s now described as the TARP? That bailout, rejected by the House, became MORE expensive and laden with MORE pork.

Not very promising if you ask me.

Remember on the campaign trail when then Sen Obama lectured us to set our thermostats lower in the winter? Here are the words of his own Senior Advisor:

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

It’s heat as I say, not as I do. And we must remember the reasoning he has used before, ” I won”.
