Elmbrook candidate forum tonight

Not to worry, if you have cable, you can watch it soon from the comfort of your own home. That’s my plan anyway. I may even try to record it with this spiffy new computer set up I’ve got going and post excerpts of interest. (I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean when I say I HOPE there will be excerpts of interest.)

Here’s the press released from the district:

Elmbrook Parent Leadership Council to Sponsor Forum for Six Candidates

Brookfield, Wis. – Candidates for the School District of Elmbrook Board of Education seats up for election in April will participate in a candidate forum on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m., at the Elmbrook Schools Central Administrative Office, 13780 Hope Street, Brookfield. The forum will be sponsored by the Elmbrook Parent Leadership Council (EPLC).

Six individuals have declared candidacy for two seats (one at-large seat and one Area IV seat.) Because more than two candidates are currently running for each seat, a primary election will be held Tuesday, Feb.17 to determine who will advance to the election on Tuesday, April 7.

At-large seat candidates are Katie Lemcke, Meg Wartman (incumbent), and Charles D. Wickens. Area IV seat candidates are Jean Lambert, Donald J. Moore, and Barry M. Wightman. Candidate profiles can be viewed at http://www.elmbrookschools.org/display/10614.nws. Electors vote for both the at-large seat and Area IV (southeast quadrant of district) seat, regardless of where they live within the district.

During the forum each candidate will present opening and closing comments, answers to predetermined questions from a moderator, and answers to questions from the audience. Elmbrook residents interested in submitting questions may send them to EPLC representative Dorothy Smaglick at dsmaglick@aol.com.

The forum will be taped and broadcast on the district’s Time Warner Cable channels 13 and 96.

Good luck you brave souls. I know from experience this stuff can be nerve wracking, especially if you’re doing something like this for the first time. I wish you the best.
