The only catastrophe here

is Mr. Obama’s latest plan. The DJIA isn’t happy.

(It finally closed DOWN 382 points.)

  1. Covertly slipped into GL Obama’s faux “stimulus bill” last weekend—by leftist Democrats—was the Socialist Universal Healthcare program. Contained within the bill is the provision that doctors will now be forced to report any and all of their patient treatments to the federal government for approval to treat. Also contained within this portion of Obama’s non-stimulus bill is the rationing of healthcare services to senior US citizens and the withholding of potentially life-saving measures. As Democrat Tom Daschle wrote in his book “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis” senior citizens “should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age.” Daschle does not appear to believe that senior citizens (apparently the government’s definition of “senior citizen” is not defined) that seniors should accept their inevitable deaths without complaining. That is, senior citizens who are not members of the elite ruling class. Daschle’s medical conditions, of course, would not be applicable to these provisions.

Note: Edward G. Robinson’s death scene in the movie ‘Soylent Green’ comes immediately to mind.

  2. We’d love some documentation, please.

  3. Edit. Sorry, the evil spam filter ate your links!

  4. I listened to the proposal this morning on the radio. I needed the help of a couple sources to figure out what the hell they are trying to do because I’ll be darned if I understood anything the Treasury Secretary was saying. They even took another 24 hours to put this package together and still muffed it.

Sure looks like we are continuing to ignore the insolvent elephants in the room again by divising creative schemes to prop up the Citi’s, B of A’s and Wells Fargo’s of the world. How many economists have to point to Japan’s 10 years of stag deflation before someone realizes that temporary nationalization of these guys is the cleanest way to fix this crisis?

Wipe out shareholder equity, take the garbage off the balance sheets, repackage the good assets and liabilities into the now cleaned up bank and put the damn thing back up for sale to private investment groups.

I gotta bad feeling we are really in for it.

  6. Randy in Richmond says:

Here is liberal Senator Chuck Schumer showing contempt for the American people in a typical elitest and arrogant manner. It’s only 17 seconds and right out of the liberal playbook.

  7. So it looks like the healthcare restrictions would be for Medicare recipients. As longs as I’m privately insured, I wouldn’t have this intrusion?

Let me know if I’m wrong.

  8. Tinkerbell says:

I believe I read “centrally planned health information technology systems”, which sounds like it would include everyone. Also CER, comparative-effectiveness research, which sounds designed to blunt cutting-edge experimental cures. Both of these sound like ways of wrestling decisions away from individuals and placing them under the intrusive eye of the government.

  9. Good luck with the private health insurance after you become eligible for medicare.
