“She lost it because of that question.”

Miss California is the first runner-up from the Miss USA contest today because of her answer to Perez Hilton’s question on gay marriage.

The part of her answer that set him off?

And you know what in my country, in my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be, between a man and a woman.

Class act that Hilton (the gossip queen formally known as Mario Lavandeira) is, he video blogged this response and called her a “dumb bitch.” (You can watch for yourself, but I wouldn’t recommend giving the site your traffic.) Of course, he quipped an apology. Make note of the royal “we.”

P.S. Sorry we called her a dumb bitch.

We were/are just soooo angry, hurt, frustrated by her answer.

Perez would love to take Miss California out for coffee and “talk”!

Well you know what? I’m darn proud of Miss California Carrie Prejean’s response. She was true to herself.

Can you imagine an America where that type of loyalty is actually rewarded?

If you’d like, you can create an account and leave Carrie a message on the Miss USA Web site. Facebook groups are popping up, too, to support her candid statement.

PS – I’d rather not get into a blog fight on the rights of gays to marry. I’m not wild about the idea, but then I’m convinced 50% of the man/woman marriages taking place are a bad idea, too.

  1. Mario is a heterophob. Its clear he hates people that don’t embrace his lifestyle. If he wants to be openly gay, thats fine, but what is American about forcing your belief on other people and then ridiculing and castigating those who disagree. The more important question is Why was he/she a judge in the first place? He is a fat slob who terrorizes celebrities and makes it a point to dress in horrendous clothing just to get attention – that seems like the opposite of “Miss USA” to me.

  2. I wondered about the judging choice, too. It really cheapens an already very cheap pageant. I don’t think I would have taken notice of the event at all had the youngest not brought the East connection up the other night.

  3. I mean the ‘guy’ has built career off tearing people down and making money off of advertisers willing to stoop to his level. Its sad really. There’s nothing good about that guy, and that has nothing to do with his sexual orientation.

  4. Agreed. Jerks come in all orientations.

  5. I second your PS.

As far as the story, noteworthy but same ole, same ole.

  6. Wow. It’s terrible someone would call another person those names because of their answer to a question without an answer. We all have our own opinions and I’m glad she put herself out there.
