Arlen Specter – 2001

A little save your backside politics sure makes for interesting retrospection.

  1. Kathryn says:

That is an interesting change of perspective. At the same time, his issue in 2001 and now seems to be about party loyalty. In 2001 he objected to Jeffords abandoning the party; in 2009 he feels the party has abandoned him. Either way, he seems to feel betrayed.

I’m glad his rule change was not approved. I don’t want to vote for a party. I want to vote for a representative, foremost. A little tension between the party and the elected official can be a good thing.

For the record, Sean was on the mark back in February, saying, Specter “knows he’s next.”

    Sorry. I meant Shawn.

  3. The Lorax says:

You mean The Lorax. Haha. And yes. Like I said a few days ago, I’ve got Arlen Specter all figured out. He’s crabby and plays the devil’s advocate. I liked him even as a Republican.

And I agree with party switching. If we had more than 2 parties, I bet ya party switching wouldn’t happen as much as parties would be more individualized. But I digress.
