YLSNED: So what’s your name?

I was watching the news and saw where the TSA is starting to demand a full name exactly as it appears on your identification to be on your boarding pass.

Forgive the language, but I’m screwed.

Do you have any idea how many names I have? My passport includes my maiden name as the first of two last names. My driver’s license only has one middle initial and no maiden name. My frequent flier accounts, which must all be the same name as the ticket being issued, are under several combinations.

This could take a while. I’m getting started on United and my Italy tickets as soon as I’m done here.

For more details, visit the TSA. Their details are not as explained by WTMJ. I’ll pop that story up if they provide a link.

You’re over reacting. I read the site – they want a valid identification document. A passport trumps everything there is.

Additionally, you’ll be surprised when you get to Italy – there are two signs and two lines the first says if you have anything to declare go talk to those guys over there. The other sign says if you have nothing to declare (which will be you) get out. It’s easy to enter Italy.

Passport screening to get out of the country is done by the Airline – it’s to their benefit that they carefully check otherwise they have to lug you back.

  2. Maybe it was TMJ4 over reacting – their story was much different from the current TSA site info, as I explained in the last line. Still no link to their piece available.

  3. Hmm, the TSA article lists an effective date from June of 2008. I flew in July of 2008, using only my current driver’s license. I think my license has my middle initial; my boarding passes just list first and last name. So, I don’t think they exactly matched.

Maybe the TMJ4 piece was about the requirements for Real ID? The effective date of that is sometime in 2011, I think.

Now Cindy – you were an elected official … you were witness to the MSM…. and how they manage news … news has nothing to do with all the information, the whole story or even the truth. Especially from the MJS.

  5. Ahah! I found it on another station. Here’s the text.
