Finally, an answer

You know, it kind of always bugged me that I couldn’t make a go at politics. I’d be really good at the technical work. I’m fairly good at the leadership part. But it just never clicked. I’d feel guilty over something and not play the game right, and then poof. Next thing you know Charlie Sykes is reminding the world of Mayor Jeff Speaker’s infamous and well-timed lie.

But now I get it.

A seasoned law enforcement officer has determined there are certain personality characteristcs politicians and serial killers share.

Kouri, who’s a vice president of the National Assn. of Chiefs of Police, has assembled traits such as superficial charm, an exaggerated sense of self-worth, glibness, lying, lack of remorse and manipulation of others.

These traits, Kouri points out in his analysis, are common to psychopathic serial killers.

But — and here’s the part that may spark some controversy and defensive discussion — these traits are also common to American politicians. (Maybe you already suspected.)

Oh, yes, Brookfield, I do understand completely how this finding might be true. I can even offer the gentleman a local poster child.

And now I know why I didn’t fit in.
