Google to Enter Operating System Market

July 10, 2009 at 6:33 am --by Anthony · No Comments

Google has announced a new operating system to be shipped on Netbooks in late 2010. It will be called Chrome OS. We know the following about the operating system so far.

  1. It will be free.
  2. It will remain a separate project from Android.
  3. It will integrate many of Google’s products (GMail, Docs, Etc.) into the main computing experience.
  4. Google is working with many different computer manufacturers to distribute Chrome OS on new Netbooks and low end PCs.

Meanwhile, someone got creative with Photoshop, made a fake user interface, and posted it online claiming that he was a parts supplier for Acer, and was invited to Acer’s United States office, where a Google representative was showing off Chrome OS, and took pictures. After being posted on many major blogs, he admitted that it was fake.

Also, Jarrod Morgan, the Director of Technology for Andrew Jackson University, has already predicted how Chrome OS may work, and shared his findings in this video.

Oh, I bet the Executives over at Microsoft and Apple are going nuts! This operating system has the potential to kill both companies, especially with Google’s good name and the fact that this will be free.
