Amusing news from Elmbrook RE: construction

Oh, I’ll just give it to you the way it went out and came back.

I’ve had a source tell me things aren’t going well at Central. Is there any basis for that opinion? There was some concern about how the first part of the school year would work out for the students given the disruption.

I’d appreciate any news you can offer.

Thank you for your concern regarding the high school construction. As I am sure you are aware the projects at both schools are multi-phased and are scheduled to be be fully completed for the opening of school in the Fall of 2010. The current phase of construction has put in place new gymnasiums, new event lobbies, locker room remodeling, extensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades, exterior remodeling including new brick veneer and energy efficient glazing. Classroom remodeling will continue throughout the school year, as per schedule, with another major construction campaign slated for next summer. There has been numerous meetings with the administration of each school to set expectations and how the school will function upon students entering on September 1.

For the past 9 weeks we have had approximately 300 workers per day on each of the school sites performing the various demolition and reconstruction tasks required to open the schools in a safe manner, ready for learning on September 1.

Please feel free to contact me if you have more specific questions.

I think it’s fair to say that all is well and no one will be inconvenienced. Isn’t that what you heard?
