Coming up this week

I still need to finish my decision on where to buy gasoline, and will get to that soon.

The City of Brookfield has a Common Council meeting on Tuesday. Not much on that agenda. You will see a presentation prior to the meeting on the June 2009 flooding is listed there. No mention of who is giving the update.

The Elmbrook School board doesn’t show any upcoming meetings.

Nationally, health care insurance reform, or whatever they are calling it this week, will continue to find the spotlight. Interestingly, I don’t recall President Obama having mentioned it last week, but I could be wrong on that. We’re definitely hearing less from him on the issue though.

Capitulation? I wish.

The stock market appears to have managed a bit of a correction but did not break through an important point of technical support on the S&P 500. I’m thinking happy thoughts on that one and look for others to be buying in now. While I certainly don’t foresee Dow 16,000 in the next year, I will attest the personal portfolio is much repaired from the last year’s demise. I haven’t touched my side of the portfolio in a few months, but I picked up some stuff near the bottom of last year’s collapse and those are moving into long-term gains in the next couple of weeks. It looks like there may be some profit taking in my future. I suspect there will be some ups and downs in the market as other investors make the same move.

That’s it for now. Let me know if there’s something on your list that needs discussion.

  1. I stand corrected. A reader sent a link to a couple of Elmbrook committee work sessions on the calendar this week.
