Someone Else’s Money

Yesterday I had the great fortune to listen to This American Life with Ira Glass. The show, Someone Else’s Money, was absolutely the best description of how America got into this health care mess I have ever heard. I’m not talking about pointing fingers at politicians, I’m talking about historical evidence.

There is, surprisingly, a pretty harsh segment on how President Obama has it wrong when it comes to health care insurers.

If you consider yourself one who stays well informed on this issue, you need to take the time to listen to the full show. It’s also available as an MP3.

The show also covered the issue the week before.

  1. Thanks for the tip.

Do you listen to NPR’s Planet Money podcast? It’s also usually good.

There’s a fair amount of overlap of coverage and correspondents between Planet Money and TAL.

  2. No, I don’t. I usually don’t spend much time in the car, and I really don’t usually tune to public radio – but yesterday I was on the road in a spot with limited reception, so that station won out.

I listened to last week’s this morning. There’s so much to think about packed into those two hours. It could keep me busy for weeks!
