Elmbrook’s Thanksgiving break

Did you know the kids are off for NINE days for Thanksgiving this year?

Wow! I should have planned to go somewhere! Instead, we’re home. Harrumpf.

Well, they are really off only 5 days (surrounded by 2 weekends), but in any case, what a wonderful idea (NOT!), especially when they are in school until June 10th.

  2. I agree. You know, why don’t they just suck up, hack off the teacher’s union, and manage a year round calendar. At least there’d be some sense to it. Right now it just feels like extended torture.

    It’s my last year. Hallelujah!

  3. There are teacher conferences in there. I feel those are important, though perhaps not as much now that email is ubiquitous.

  4. True, but by the time you get to conferences most of us know what we’ll be hearing. The youngest’s will be small cheer leading sessions for her abilities, followed quickly by the parents cheering the teacher. I’d be better off to e-mail “yippee” to them all and spare them the time.

  5. Fair enough. 🙂

WEAC will never go year ’round, think of all the part-time jobs/salary their members would have to give up.

  7. Everyone’s happy about getting a whole week off for Thanksgiving break. Most parents really do not attend conferences unless their child is struggling/failing a class.

  8. I’d BE happy if I’d planned ahead to hit the road. Now I’m just grumpy about the whole thing.

  9. Lots of parents attend fall conferences, Anthony, especially in the elementary schools, but also at the secondary level.

C., you have three weeks. Why not plan something now that you know?

Expedia has some great last minute trips to NYC for cheap. I know you mentioned longing to go back a few weeks ago.

  11. BrkfldDad says:

If you haven’t tried them or looked at it yet, there’s tons of bundled near-term stuff on the Southwest website. Fares out of MKE are as low as $49 one-way.

  12. Well, I’ve already committed to doing Thanksgiving here because I thought it was the traditional 4 days. Still thinking about it, though.

  13. I’ll do that.

    Thanks you guys.
