The City of Milwaukee wants condoms, personal lubricants

Oh, you can’t make this stuff up. Go read the request for proposal!

You didn’t miss:

C. GLOBAL PROTECTION #W20340C OR EQUAL. WET 3ML FOIL PACKS, 500 PER CASE.
ESTIMATED QUANTITY: 1300 CASES

or

D. GLOBAL PROTECTION #A6700C OR EQUAL. LIFESTYLES KING SIZE. 1000 PER CASE.
ESTIMATED QUANTITY 240 CASES.

As one person commented on Twitter, “that’s a party!”

Seriously, though, would one of you more enterprising types find out where these will be distributed? Is this part of the MPS thing and the city is funding?

Comments

  1. If my math is correct, that is 3,500,000 condoms, granted over the 3 year contract but that is still 1.1 million per year. With a population of 606,000 thats roughly 2 condoms for every man, women and CHILD in the city (based on if these are being distributed through the health department).

Ok, lets say these are being distributed through the MPS condom program based on the 87,000 K-12 students thats 13 condoms for EVERY STUDENT per year. Not sure how your high school days were, but lets just say mine weren’t nearly as fruitful.

I could run the math for hours on this one, good stuff indeed. Now the costs… Oh.. the costs…

    Back to work..

  2. Is “Lifestyles King Size” referring to the size case of condoms or the size of the condoms? Probably over estimating for the K-12 crowd arent we?

  3. Bkfld Voter says:

How many syphillis test kits have they requested?
    HIV/AIDS tests?
    Gonorrhea?
    Chlamydia?
    Herpes?
    HPV? Cervical cancer? Oral cancer?

If they were concerned to minimize disease, wouldn’t testing for disease be an important step?

Once a person is aware they have a disease and could be charged with a crime for spreading it, will this practice allow them to continue having sex, with the thought that the condoms might reduce the number of people they infect? It is like playing russian roulette!

Setting aside the topic of disease, what about other consequences? If people are affirmed in their amoral practice of copulating freely like animals, how will they learn the self-discipline it takes to CARE for each other, rather than just move on the the next relative stranger for a transitory physical exchange?

Will the proposed practice of distributing condoms really improve the City? The schools? Is this in the best interests of the children?

  4. I’m not sure the two are related. Sure hoping some real reporter will pick this one up and let us know.

  5. “Sure hoping some real reporter will pick this one up and let us know.”

Are there some of those left?

  6. This RFP is not related to MPS; it’s all City of.

  7. Thanks for clarifying that detail, Folkbum.
