“You’re Doing a Heck of a Job”, Janet

As a young adult I remember those in my generation being described as, ” if it feels good, do it.” After almost a year of the Obama administration I would characterize it as, ” if it sounds good, say it.” The most recent example is Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano saying “the system worked” when referring to the recent terrorist attempt to blow up a passenger jet. This isn’t her first time in making a statement she later had to retract or explain. In August of this year she made the following comment when asked about terrorists crossing US borders,

“Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it’s been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there.”
CTV reported that Napolitano was asked if she was referring to the Sept. 11 hijackers. She said: “Not just those but others as well.”

The 9/11 Commission determined the Trade Center terrorists came to the United States from overseas.

This is the same Homeland Security Secretary who tried to not use the term ‘terrorist’ in a Congressional hearing by instead saying “man-caused disaster.” Many are calling for her resignation or firing. I would support this because she is not qualified to hold her position as head of national security any more than Michael Brown was qualified for the considerable lesser position as head of FEMA in the Bush administration. However, in her outrageous statement of this past weekend she was simply reflecting the position of the Obama administration as White House Presidential Secretary Robert Gibbs also said on CBS that, “in many ways, this system has worked,” without elaborating.

Yes, she needs to go. Not for promoting the ‘company line’ but because the position she holds needs a qualified person-not a political appointee.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more, Randy. Secretary Napolitano has shown such weak grasp of facts and history that I would be surprised if she could find Canada on a map. If the President doesn’t have her resignation (read that, she’s fired) by the end of the weekend it will be a display of weakness. This a time to take names and kick butt, not to hold hands and sing a chorus of Kumbaya.
