Gas over $3 a gallon. Where’s the outrage?

Remember when President Barack Obama started campaigning? He was indignant that gas prices should be so high. The solution? He would put a windfalls profit tax to the oil companies.

Well, those dastardly oil companies are making money again. The fed and treasury are devaluing the dollar, and gas is over $3.00 a gallon in most parts of the country.

Are you hearing any outrage?

Me either.

No, I’m not advocating for a windfall profits tax. I do think it makes since to hold the president’s feet to the oil burning fire, though, and ask him: If high oil prices were so bad for America when you were campaigning, why aren’t they a problem now?

The one thing that does get me a little cranky when oil prices go up is the propensity of airlines to tack on fuel surcharges. I just don’t remember those higher prices being dropped after the last time they did so.

The inflation we are starting to witness is real. Be prepared. Your dollar already gets you much less at the grocery store than it did a couple of years ago. I bought mayonnaise the other day and nearly dropped my teeth.

Are you hearing any outrage?

Me either.
