Coming soon to a theater near you

No, not Sarah Palin. That is old news, folks. Coming October 2012: Barack Obama and the Navy Seals. From the New York Times.

The White House is also counting on the Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal big-screen version of the killing of Bin Laden to counter Obama’s growing reputation as ineffectual. The Sony film by the Oscar-winning pair who made “The Hurt Locker” will no doubt reflect the president’s cool, gutsy decision against shaky odds. Just as Obamaland was hoping, the movie is scheduled to open on Oct. 12, 2012 — perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost to a campaign that has grown tougher.

I can only imagine weeks and weeks of that movie trailer. Obama poised with his flight helmet under his arm, turning to greet the big screen television in the situation room. It’s going to be grand.

  1. The Lorax says:

The flight helmet is a Bush thing though, I thought.

  2. anyone has and can make a promotional movie. examples: JFK (book and film) Profiles in Courage; Bush (mission accomplished); M. Moore (anything goes); Gen. McArthur ( i shall return); Nixon (alter ego interviews); Lincoln (splitting rails photos and drawings); FDR (yankee doodle dandy…small but significant role); Ford (Michigan football). just a few i recall. others do sound bites, tv ads and write books about themselves. in the future look for more movies about self praise. forgot: McCain in prison.

  3. Ronnie as the Gipper

  4. top movies now are Captain American and Planet of the Apes.

  5. SNL had a repeat this weekend of their sketch where the Obama character goes on and on about “how he got Bin Laden, did you hear I got Bin Laden”. I hope this movie is as funny as the sketch.

  6. some movies with a political twist are only show to selective audiences at selective sites. no person has ever told me they were influenced by a political movie to vote for a certain candidate. there are so many forms of media it is impossible to see them all.

  7. i also remember pics of Harry Truman in a 1st WW uniform. did not Pres. Washington, Grant and Andy Jackson get publicity from their wartime service? add Geo.HW Bush and Tippicanoe and Tyler too. then came the issues of the draft and reserve service. as jimmy durante said: everbody wants to get into the act.
