Happy Thanksgiving Day

Yesterday I made a trip to Washington, DC and back to visit someone who has been special in my life. It’s about a hundred miles each way and I knew traffic would be heavier than the normal trip to hell and back. So I gathered the CD’s of my favorite music and a cassette recorded book to wile away the time on what is normally a trip of about 2 hours. It ended up I spent just over 7 1/2 hours sitting in my vehicle on Route 95 at various speeds from 35 mph to essentially parked. And ye gads, about 15 miles into my leaving Richmond my radio went dead as a doornail. No CD playing, no book listening, no FM music, or no talk radio was at my fingertips. It was just me and my thoughts alone for over 7 hours ( I know that’s a scary thought for many of you).

So coming back I decided to mentally list some of the things and people in my life for which I was especially thankful, this in honor of the coming day. After going thru the usual suspects we all would name here, it occurred to me that probably the biggest outside change of influence on me in the past 10 years or so is my time spent on the computer. We all can agree this computer thing is a mixed bag of the good, the bad, and the ugly. So as part of the good for which I am thankful I wish y’all a Happy Thanksgiving in a manner that was not possible a few short years ago.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all my right (and far right) leaning friends!
