I survived March 2011 in Wisconsin

I need a t-shirt. And actually, I’ve survived it twice as I’ve spent the last few hours writing it all again.

Do you realize what we went through? All the “it’s a law; it’s not a law” arguments? Maryann Sumi’s rulings that didn’t amount to jack(censored) in the end?

And tomorrow it’s on to April and Ryan’s discovery of missing Waukesha County votes and numbers jibing and then not jibing and recounts and Prosser winning the State Supreme Court Race and then the Prosser choke charge and the recall committees forming for the State Senators…

Well. Yes. I am kind of tired. We all are if you think about it. But how fortunate I am to be writing about something as fascinating as what happened in Wisconsin the last 18 months.

I’m still kind of surprised no one else has done it. Please, let me know if you find it out there somewhere. Then I can go back to eating bon bons in the afternoon instead of all this work. 😉

How many pages are you shooting for?

  2. 30,000 words – I’m about a third of the way there.

  3. and during that time period there have been shouts of no jobs available. all around the city and elsewhere there are help wanted signs that seem to be permanent. there are no takers. is it that the pay is too low or the job is too lowly. my Mother worked all her life as a waitress and never complained about the pay or the job. if you are in heavy credit card debt then swallow hard and go to work to pay it off. not just one job but two or three. those who do that will suffer by missing the happy hour and the online sales. we used to go up and down the streets asking for work.

Do you have a copy of the one you linked? I am curious as to the tone and perspective.

No but I hear it’s good. Nichols is an ardent advocate of labor, but he’s also a good writer.

  7. Just put a hold on it at the library. I’ll have what I need by the end of next week. Thanks again.

  8. Picked up Nichols’ book at the library this morning and have glanced through it.

I’ll be just fine if this is the comparison.
