Saying what no one else will say.

That’s why you show up here on occasion.

So, sadly, Congressman James Sensenbrenner fell and broke his hip and elbow.

Sensenbrenner will, of course, be re-elected in November. And then he’ll retire mid term, and then Ted Kanavas will be our new congressman by November 2013.

Although Rich Zipperer will give Kanavas enough rumbling to make it interesting.

See? Who else will go there?

Happy Monday.

  1. BrkfldDad says:

Does Walker get to name Sensenbrenner’s replacement until such time that there’s an election?

  2. Oooh. Good question.

(Thanks for taking this post seriously bdad. I can always count on you.)

  3. I believe that as long as he doesn’t vacate the seat fairly close to the next election, then it remains vacant until a special election can be held and then the newly elected Congressman takes the seat as soon as the results are certified.

Walker only appoints if a Senator vacates a seat.

  4. BrkfldDad says:

Damn. I’ve never been much of a fan of either Sensenbrenner nor Kanavas. It was a nice thought that maybe Walker could boost someone else’s candidacy.

  5. Bdad: Maybe you had Mother Superior in mind? 😉

I still don’t have a great feeling about Sensenbrenner, but after discussing it with the spouse, my six-months-after-a-broke-hip theory must be a girl thing.

    Oh, and Nick? You rock.

  6. My dad broke his elbow and his hip in an accident earlier this year. Knowing how much of a struggle it is to recover from it, I can say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person than Jim “Fat Ass, Michelle Obama has a big rear end” Sensenbrenner.

  7. Randy in Richmond says:

This is twice today you have personalized medical situations involving public figures, one of whom has been dead for 8 years. Your crass and insensitive remarks usurp the normal give and take we try to observe here and I for one take exception to your highlighting physical shortcomings one might, or might not, have to make some biased and sleezy political statement.

  8. @Randy, Jim Sensenbrenner was the one who made the comment about Michelle Obama’s back side. I believe it was Cindy who posted the pictures of Jim for comparison.

  9. Randy in Richmond says:

“I can say it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person” are your words. I disapprove of his comment but that is no reason to applaud his injury.

  10. (Which is why she’s saying nothing.)
