The stakes are high. Ideological purity is a must. No compromise. No prisoners. Fight to the death.
You can see it in blogs, news comments, social media. People are tense. Feisty. They won’t back down from a fight. No warning. Out of the blue. Just wade in. Take a swing.
Friends? Ha! It doesn’t matter any more. You disagree with me and you’re done.
You do something I disagree with and I’ll accuse you of, oh, whatever, being a Nazi. That’s popular enough. Or maybe a socialist.
You support the wrong candidate, say the wrong thing, show the wrong picture, boom. The hammer will come down.
“Don’t mess with me.” “Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.” Don’t say some thing you’ll regret.
Whew! It’s a jungle out there….

Don’t forget that the racism meme is still being applied. Despicable.
Racism, social and class warfare – no doubt this campaign mentality refuses to shake loose.
Maybe some people are the way they are because it originates at the top. For the President of the United States to expound “if they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” perhaps sets the tone. It also is demeaning to the office and sets an improper example, especially for young people.
You know, that’s a good point. The principal at a school the kids attended was a heck of a bully. It really filtered down. We ended up pulling the kids.
The more I think about it, the more I get your point.
Great post. If someone doesn’t agree with your point of view, make sure you make a villain out of them. It is not nearly enough anymore to simply disagree. Don’t see an end anytime soon
