Pants on Fire !

Here we go with more tangled web weaving. Remember the debate where the moderator, Candy Crowley, came to the President’s defense and assured us that the President had called the attack on the Benghazi Consulate “a terror attack” on September 12th, the day after the attack?

Remember how, when this was questioned at that time, the administration repeatedly pointed to the September 12th speech in the Rose Garden as referring to the attack as terrorism?

Remember how, on Sunday September 16th, UN Ambassador Susan Rice, appeared on 5 major networks and gave, let’s call them misleading, statements on the Consulate attack that many questioned then and we now know were erroneous?

Fast forward to yesterday and President Obama, no longer a candidate, says this in his press conference:

“As I said before, she (speaking of Rice) made an appearance at the request of the White House in which she gave her best understanding of the intelligence that had been provided to her,”

Hmmm. Her “best understanding”“provided to her”.

So the White House timeline is:

September 12th……….It was a terror attack (per President Obama)
September 16th……….It was the video (per White House intelligence)
September multiple dates–It was the Video(per White House spokesman Jay Carney)
October 16th(Debate)…It was a terror attack (per President Obama)(per neutral moderator Crowley)

Yesterday……………”It was her best understanding of the intelligence”(per President Obama)

The ultimate decision approving Rice as the administration’s spokesperson on that weekend following the attack had to be President Obama. After just calling the attack terror on September 12th he sent her out to articulate it was a spontaneous reaction to a video. Now that he is considering her for Secretary of State Obama said yesterday, in response to some Senators promising to oppose her appointment:

“If Sen. McCain and Sen. Graham and others want to go after somebody, they should go after me,”

Could that be interpreted as “I made her lie, it’s not her fault”? And will he bring a knife or a gun?

And all we have heard from the Obama administration is we won’t discuss what happened at Benghazi until the investigation is completed. Really. I guess they didn’t tell Susan Rice that either.

Comments

  1. “Could that be interpreted as “I made her lie, it’s not her fault”?”

    Bingo.

  2. Could be that although there are legitimate questions about what actually happened; both before, during and after the attack, maybe this is just Fox News hyperventilating. I think the House should just appoint a standing committee on impeachment.
Blovaiter Sen. McCain would rather spew his nonsense than actually learning what happened.

  3. Agree with Ryan. The information was manipulated to ensure that she said what they wanted. She did not lie. There was no intent to deceive by Susan Rice. She was likely complicit in the sense that she chose not to ask questions about the information she received.
The effect was the same without anyone accountable for the deception. It was simply an issue related to declassifying the intelligence analysis for public disclosure. And we all move on knowing the truth of things but unable to discipline the culprits hiding behind the process.
    Next deception, please.
The guy to nail is the guy who prevented the cavalry from coming. It will be hard to hide that culpability in a murky declassification process. But they are inventive….
Things will not move forward as long as Congress is focused on Susan Rice instead of the missing cavalry…

This post does not involve Fox News ” hyperventilating” or doing anything else. It does refer to statements made publicly by Susan Rice, multiple members of the Obama administration, and offers direct quotes from President Obama himself.
