I mean who would possibly predict that Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, the darling candidate of all Milwaukee County’s left-sided thinkers, would, you know, kind of do everything just like the hated Republican he was elected to replace? After all the County Board managed to overrede 22 of 24 vetoes Abele made to the budget.
I marvel at the stories coming forward. Today you should go read Yosamite, who, to our good fortune, has plopped himself behind a keyboard more often lately. His piece a couple of days ago on the Milwaukee County jobs initiative has a few points worth noticing.
The legislation was passed by the County Board but was vetoed by County Executive Chris Abele who substituted the $1 million with $100,000 stating that this proposal should be a slow growth endeavor. The board overrode the veto and reinstated the full amount.
And the really important issue:
How many jobs have been created? From what has been reported so far – ZERO.
Up to $266,000 of County money spent and not one job created.
Of course you’ll remember I don’t think government can create jobs. The best they can do is get out of the way. (Uhem. Scott Walker.)
Put Yosamite on your reader. When we chatted the other day we both made a commitment to get back on the job. He’s showing me up at this point, and that’s great. Solid content is hard to come by right now, and he deserves to be recognized for his effort.
