Rebel in need of a cause – today’s vote

No, I didn’t tell you how I’m voting today – yet.

Ponto. (Oh, heck, why not.)

Vranas, Liotta, and Kratoska (write in) for school board.

Vranas is a mixed bag of tricks as he’s all gung ho on 4K, but he’s a friend of the kids and I have a sign in my yard. Liotta is awesome. His opponent Tom Gehl got stodgy and arrogant. That one was easy. Kratoska because I’d love to see a write-in win for a change, and because his opponent Kathryn Wilson won’t stand conservative ground on Common Core. That’s because she’s very liberal.

I’ll probably lose all three of those. Ponto? Who knows. I can not remember a time when I have cared so little about local politics, and that’s just not like me at all, now, is it? We will know soon enough.

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated
Nothin’ to do and no where to go-o-oh I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can’t control my fingers I can’t control my brain
Oh no no no no no

(All you haters can stick it in your ear. That was funny. Those who know me well get it and are still giggling.)

Comments

  1. My sense is you are right that all 3 will lose, but Liotta may have a chance and should be the closest of the 3. Kratoska would have had a good chance if he had been on the ballot.

I think Ponto’s margin of victory will surprise some. I’m thinking 55-45ish.

What was your County Board vote? Not so sure about mayoral margin. I think low turnout helps Speaker and the whole B.R.A.D. voting bloc, if it turns out, could really hurt Ponto. Ponto still wins but I wouldn’t be surprised with a squeaker or even a Speaker win.

  3. Ponto only won by 205 last time. (I didn’t have a county board vote.)

I suspect the Ponto margin, among likely voters, is much larger after 4 years. Will be interesting to see the turnout. I voted earlier today and the numbers in my ward were not stellar. It’s an off-hype election, I can feel it when the only thing that excites me is the Milwaukee County supervisor pay referendum 😉

  5. I need a like button for comments.

Yes, that’s about the only thing that excites me, too, Bdad.

Sounds like I am eating crow. JS is reporting a wide margin victory for Ponto, but they have no totals yet online or in the article, go figure.

  7. 4512-2539. So Ponto got about 64%. That’s a whoopin; even bigger margin than that I thought.

  8. Vrana was the closest of the 3 Elmbrook candidates, but still only got 41%. Kratoska got 1155 votes…. a pretty darn good effort for a write-in. That would have been a very close race if he’s gotten on the ballot IMO.

  9. The most exciting race that I got to vote on was County Supervisor – District 8. Current results:

    Highum: 1013
    Haukohl (i) 1007

  10. I’m very surprised Haukohl was ousted. Dang. She’s an institution.

  11. We got lots of Highum mailers that mentioned this http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/117965664.html

  12. Still not over either. Six votes is close enough for some recount magic.

An election on April Fools Day – what can this mean?

  14. All I know is that voter turnout was so low in Brookfield that city officials should be embarrassed. It’s never a good thing when a community cares so little about who is leading.
