An insider said Elmbrook will sell the land near the Imperial subdivision in the north of Brookfield to the city in August. The district’s annual meeting is in June; perhaps the sale will be voted there.
I’m not wild about the idea because it supports moving the fire station from it’s current location near East high school on Lilly Road. The sale will also force taxpayers to pay twice for the land - once as a school district purchase and later as a City of Brookfield purchase.
No discussion has been made as to the price of the 12.67 acres.
UPDATE - 8 am - the land is expected to be valued between $1.5 million and $2 million according to an expert in real estate value.

The land is so nice we pay for it twice!
I don’t suppose we get a credit from Elmbrook?

I don’t understand. I thought the city is eyeing the park land site on Calhoun north of Capitol for the fire station relocation. What do they want the Imperial Estates land for? Is that another park “swap” instigated by the ESB? I seem to recall one of those a few years ago to accommodate VK. Will it ever end?

They are! But the park and rec people said they couldn’t have it unless they came up with land to replace it. (Not exactly, but that was the general summary.)
So, the school district will be asked to sell the land in order to allow the fire station to be relocated to Calhoun. Of course, the numbers will be fudged so it appears that park space was purchased instead of land for a new fire station, but they fudge a lot of numbers anyway, so it shouldn’t be a big moral dilemma for the city.

That’s funny, moral dilemma for the city. Don’t you have to have morals in order to have a moral dilemma?

That’s my point exactly. Half of the council has potential, but they won’t stand up to the new chair of finance who is probably the most unethical member of all 14.

Are you kidding? Why he’s got more ethics in his appendix than most of us have in the rest of our entire bodies… oh… wait a minute…
