Fairly Conservative

To a sufficient degree; in an evenhanded manner.

Pile on the pork.

Yes, something passed the Senate. There are some interesting details coming to light, including a tax exemption on wooden arrows for toys.

What the hell is in this thing? Here it is. If you figure it out, let me know.

(Don’t believe me? Search for “wooden” in the pdf file.)

An entire ACT is in this! The Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find a kitchen sink.

Probably something for an (I) Independent I would guess. More seriously, what do you think of a Congressman who turns “off” his email function on his website so you can’t talk with him? Sensenbrenner - really not surprising. Let’s not let citizen input get in the way of good ole fashion govt legislation.

Probably not a fair assessment, Wilson828. I’ve heard the congressional e-mail system has crashed several days in a row. Whatever you’re getting is probably a blanket message.

I did get something through earlier today. I’m sure Jim was thrilled, and I mean THRILLED, to hear from me.

Sounds like you let him have it? If so, good for you. And you were right - the email was down and is now up and running - he got his 3rd email from me this week. You shoulda run against this guy - he’s a boob.

We still owe on our house, but since my computer hates .pdf, I can’t check to see if they included us in that bill. Probably won’t get my new truck either, will I.

Wilson, I’d love to run when Jimmy retires, but there will be several people in line before me.

Kate, don’t count on it. This is ugly stuff. I’m disgusted. (By the way, maybe we should e-mail exchange about that PDF problem. I bet I could help.)

That really seems like a bunch of garbage. Unbelievable.

Great News!!! I just happen to be in the wooden arrow toy business. The system works!!! I lobbied my Senator for this break and he got it through. WooHoo!!!

BTW…I’m expanding into kitchen sinks. I lobbied for those too and secured some great options at a STEEP discount. Gravy train…here I come.

I may be away for awhile. The Missus wants to go to Brookfield WI and get a new outfit or 20. ;-)

I confess, I fell asleep with the computer on my lap trying to read this bill. The sad geeky thing is that I was reading it at all!

Our politicians in DC can’t pass any bill that deals strictly with the issue at hand. They always have to load them down with pork in order to buy votes and also to sway “no” votes into voting “yes”. We have a disgusting and corrupt government. They let this problem develop and did nothing about it. Now they are trying to pretend they didn’t have anything to do with it. When social security goes broke, just watch the clowns dance trying to pretend they didn’t know anything about the problem. I despise our politicians….in general!
